JQuery Mobile 1.3 Official Release

Richard Harris Richard Harris

The Jquery team has announced the arrival of the public version (1.3) of Jquery Mobile.

This release is focused on elevating responsive web design (RWD) and brings lots of new widgets including panels, dual handle range sliders, and two different responsive table modes. Here are a few things the new version brings to the mobile development table:

  • Accordion
  • AJAX Navigation
  • AutoComplete
  • Buttons
  • Checkboxes
  • Dialogs
  • Fixed Toolbars
  • Flip Switches with toggle
  • Form Elements
  • ListViews
  • Transitions
  • Sliders
  • Loader Overlays
And the list continues on and on! It really looks fantastic from looking at their online demos
Jquery has always been one of my favorite platforms to develop in and seeing a dedicated focus for mobile makes me very happy. The functions they have included straight out of the box will make it easy for a native developer to start using because they are familiar enough to their native calls that transitioning will be a breeze.

Do I dare say this is another dagger for HTML5 to use in the war against native?
